Ponder Goes Wire to Wire













​Thomas Ponder took the first round lead of the Emerald Coast Golf Tour event at Ft Walton Beach Golf Club with a 6 under 66. He followed that up with at 66-67-197 for a 6 shot win in the 54 hole event. Ponder who is from Dothan AL is a former University of Alabama golf team player and is currently on the PGA Americas Tour. Ponder owns a course record on the Emerald Coast Tour as he set one in Mississippi last year at the Diamondhead resort. Eli Ortego who is from Lafayette LA finished second with rounds 68-69-68-204. B J Rogillio who s from Baton Rouge LA finished third one stroke behind at 206. Gary Glassman of Madison AL was fourth at 209. It was the first event of the year for the ECGT. The Fort Walton Beach Golf Club was in great shape and the course was well received by all the players. Thanks for the great staff at Fort Walton Beach for hosting the event.
